ETSY APP now is in CHATGPT: how to handle the huge traffic drop?

Hello friends,

some of you already know me since I have been in Wealthy Affiliate for longtime! Hope you all are doing well!

I read the thread about the new AI search box in Google, and I thought it was important to share what I discovered on Etsy too, which is always connect to the traffic problem!

  1. NOW YOU CAN CONNECT ETSY APP IN CHAT GPT
  • This mean that a potential customer now does not need to ENTER IN ETYS using the SEARCH BAR to look for products
  • He/she can chat in Chat GPT which will filters the results!!!
  • Of course the customer could enter in Etsy and browse among the products, but this is a trend we cannot ignore

2. HUGE TRAFFIC DROP LED ME TO PINTEREST (again)

  • I was studying my stats finding that something was weird, I have 55 listings with many different keywords so those low numbers could not be possible at all
  • I entered in Etsy with Firefow in incognito mode to find out that the only TWO listings that were ranked in page 3 and 5 for my main keyword were those who received traffic from Pinterest
  • I know for sure this because I prepared pins just for those 2 listings
  • What does it mean this? It means that the Etsy AI algo does not care how much accurate is your seo now, because what is looking for is INTERACTION SIGNALS with your listing.
  • Every listing which receives any signals from Pinterest, socials or Etsy customers will rank differently for sure.
  • This does not mean that higher ranking = more sales, no it does not work that way BUT at least you got your chance to be seen by a customer!

So, my strategy for this is the following:

  • basic seo on each listing (more descriptive words to the AI understand its content)
  • huge work on growing Pinterest!
  • A big thank you to @Andy who gave me the access to Pininfluencer which will be a game changer for my Pinterest strategy! (I will keep u updated about it!)

Thank you for the post … that’s good to know about ETSY and Chat GPT. This seems to be the direction many websites are going in now.

Was the big traffic drop from Google?

well my shop is brand new but I have noticed that the E-rank data for Etsy search are getting lower and lower. My shop too has very low traffic from Etsy, compared to other shops I managed years before.

I think that the low traffic is due to customers’ changing behavior and the introduction of AI.

For example, now that you can connect Etsy App in chat GPT you don’t even need to enter in Etsy using the search bar, so that traffic is gone.

The only thing to do is planting seeds in Reddit, Pinterest, Youtube and other seo-driven platform to teach AI that you brand exists! I will have more data in the following months to understand how these new patterns work!
