Hey all,
I’ve been looking at RedditGrow for a week or two already and was immediately very tempted by the launch deal … at the time of writing, you can still get in for 20 bucks a month on the Growth Plan - goes up to $40 p/m once launch positions are gone.
I’m thinking I’ll document my journey here (time permitting), warts an’ all, so you can avoid the pitfalls if you decide to go for it. It’s certainly an interesting platform.
A quick description of what it is …
What is RedditGrow?
RedditGrow is an AI-powered Reddit marketing platform focused on:
-
buyer-intent discovery
-
monitoring subreddits
-
AI-assisted reply drafting
-
competitor visibility
-
GEO visibility monitoring
-
account safety tools
The software periodically scans Reddit discussions related to your keywords and competition, then lists threads where users are already discussing the exact problem your product solves.
Sounds pretty good eh?
I decided to take the plunge after reading this DMC post from Andy. I’ve always been a die-hard Google SEO’er but their recent moves have been pushing affiliate marketers to the brink. Now, as AI Overviews are set to morph into something way more aggressive, it’s time to accept that the writing is probably on the wall for Google based organic SEO.
Bing might still be worth a shot for certain niches, as Andy hinted at here but the Google free traffic machine is becoming more and more out of reach for most marketers.
So … I’m holding my nose and embracing Social. Some of you know I’m already active on Reddit but I wanted to keep this new venture separate from my existing exploits. So I set up a brand new Reddit account yesterday … and got banned within 30 minutes. Ha ha (nothing to do with RedditGrow, I might add).
How not to get banned on Reddit!
I thought I was behaving pretty naturally with my fresh account. I signed up, browsed around a bit, joined 2 or 3 subs, added a profile pic and a banner, liked a few posts and made a couple of very short replies (absolutely no promotion, obviously) …
… and I was still banned ![]()
So I turned to my trusty sidekick and asked GPT why this might be. And I quote:
It’s most likely an automated anti-spam / anti-evasion trigger than anything you did in the subs themselves.
It suggested some of the reasons could be:
- The IP/browser fingerprint was already associated with multiple accounts
- The account creation pattern matched known spam behavior
- The profile setup happened “too completely” too quickly
- You hit an aggressive subreddit automod early on
Before setting up the account I had already asked GPT if it would be ok to use the same IP address and the advice was that it should be fine. Chatty seemed to think it would be less risky using the same IP than attempting to mask my activity behind a proxy or a VPN … so I’m not convinced the first bullet point played into the ban.
I think point #3 above was probably the most likely cause and maybe commenting too early.
I immediately set up another account using the same email address and very similar configuration but didn’t add an avatar or banner image and didn’t engage at all save for browsing a couple of subs. This morning, my account is still live ![]()
So I connected it to RedditGrow and the advice in the dashboard is:
So I’m going to do very little with the account for the first 5-6 days. Literally just log in every day and browse around a bit. I might risk the odd upvote here and there!
RedditGrow is already scanning the 24 subs I’ve added and is surfacing potential opportunities in the meantime (it’s found 157 opportunities already!). There is a ‘Warmup Plan’ which I’ll activate after the first week. This is designed to safely embed your account into the Reddit ecosystem without raising red flags.
One thing worth mentioning during this early phase is that the sub-scanning process is already sending me suggestions for conversations I can get involved in. Emailing me messages like “Don’t wait … here’s 3 must-reply opportunities”.
Obviously, it’s a bad idea to engage with my fresh account so I’m ignoring those emails for now. Maybe that’s a tweak the owners could make … for fresh accounts building trust, don’t surface opportunities just yet ![]()
Anyway … I’ll keep you posted on my progress! Here’s the link again: RedditGrow
