It doesn’t sound crazy at all. Starting out in affiliate marketing is a minefield and there are a LOT of scammers out there. Wealth Creator is definitely bordering on scam territory, in my opinion (and others here).
It wouldn’t say it’s an out and out scam but what you get for the high ticket price doesn’t seem to track, to be perfectly honest. Especially when the main earning method appears to be selling WC back to others. You’re not building a real affiliate business - you’re making the owners rich.
Classic pyramid scheme really. No distinct product other than the program you buy into. Wealth Creator is the latest in a long line of these types of programs out there.
Anyway … that’s the negativity over with
There is definitely a way to do this on your own. All the information you need to become an affiliate marketer is out there for free. I know filtering the wheat from the chaff is difficult though and that’s pretty much why we set up the Digital Matrix Cafe. To try and cut through the noise for people like you, starting out on this journey.
Take your time.
I can see you’ve downloaded the Affiliate Starter Kit so that’s a great way to learn the very basics. You will be receiving some follow up private messages over the next few days with more pointers to help you get going in this rewarding industry.
There’s also tons of info on the forum so have a good look around and get involved asking questions. You can be sure there are others exactly where you are now who maybe feel hesitant to get involved and your questions will help them too
There’s a detailed post series here about setting up your own website, which is how most people step into the affiliate marketing space … although there are other ways to do it without your own website, we recommend owning your own site as a bare minimum really.
You’re approaching this with the right mindset … “not looking to become a millionaire” … although that is perfectly possible, in time!
But yeah, an extra $2-3k a month is very welcome and that is absolutely achievable with the right approach, perseverance and some time.
