I was talking to my best friend last week and they told me about a terrible experience they had.
They said to me: "I spent a fortune on these new books. I was so excited to read them, but they just didn’t resonate with me. I felt like I had wasted my money."
Here's what I've come to learn over the years:
The beautiful prose in classic literature cannot be beaten. Those timeless stories capture the depth of human experience like nothing else. The richness of the language, the weight of the themes—it’s all there, waiting to be explored.
Modern books can be fun, but classics linger. They stick with you. They shape how we think and feel.
The classics were detailed accounts of eventful and sometimes uneventful occurrences that weaved you down into the depths, where you felt like you were there...
Modern stories don't seem to have the same depth, not like the classics. They were story driven. You went on a journey with the author...
Ah, yes, the classics live on, an experience that lingers, even as I write this, flashes of past readings come to mind...
@diane Interesting topic. I think that modern books lack vibration and energy compared with classic, time-proven books. If you read Lord of the Rings, you will not find crime or sex scenes like in modern books. Nowadays, books have no resonance with readers because authors lack fantasy or do not live their heroes’ lives deeply. Could you look at modern fairy tales? It is a joke. H.Ch. Anderson or the Brothers Grimm will live forever because of their magic and ability to touch children and adults.
