Festinger Vault is dead - where to go next?

Welp, it looks like Festinger Vault is officially dead (or so I can deduce from him getting banned from BlackHatForum, lol).

Anyone have an alternative they’ve looked at? Not a big issue since I wasn’t using many of the plugins, but it was nice to have on hand for testing out things. I briefly looked at Plugins for WP, but need to see what all is out there.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of this too - the Plugins For WP

Does anyone have any ideas?

Actually scratch that, I think I found something better.

Or not, it might have been a wrapper for Festinger Vault

is the link of what I was thinking of using

I was reading that thread … it’s brutal.

We’ve witnessed the rise and fall of Festinger before our very eyes and he seems to have fallen fast!

Obviously, I had a quick look with Chatty. Seems pretty comprehensive as usual!

“Festinger Vault is gone” is basically confirmed by the community vibe.

:star: Top Alternatives People Are Switching To

:small_blue_diamond: GPLCellar

  • One of the most-mentioned replacements in community threads. Folks report it’s clean, well-supported, and has responsive owner contact.

:small_blue_diamond: PluginsforWP

  • A popular GPL repository with tons of WordPress themes and plugins. It’s often recommended as the #1 overall GPL alternative.

:small_blue_diamond: Srmehranclub

  • Not just WP — this one covers a bunch of CMSs (but still has a big WordPress collection). Reportedly large library and solid update frequency.

:small_blue_diamond: GPLVault

  • Another established GPL themes/plugins library. Smaller than some above, but reliable and straightforward.

:small_blue_diamond: WorldPressIT

  • Good if you prefer single downloads rather than subscriptions — smaller catalog, but clean and simple access.

:small_blue_diamond: GPLTimes / GPLDL / gpl.coffee / Nullsto

  • Other community-mentioned sources that people try out when they’re just looking around. Not as polished as PluginsforWP or GPLCellar, but functioning alternatives.

A Brief Reality Check

For anyone here who is new to all this …

GPL repositories can be hit or miss:

  • You won’t always get official license keys or direct auto-updates from the original developers.

  • Update timing is slower than official sources.

  • Quality and malware scanning varies by provider.

As with anything online, there are risks which you must weigh up for yourself. You’re introducing a third party into the equation which will always complicate matters. There have been cases of malicious code being added, for example.

For your pride and joy main/production site, paying for official licenses is the safest route.

Other Options People Have Mentioned (Worth Checking Out)

GPLDownload .com, GPL Times, GPLPlus, PluginTheme .net, GPL Market, GPL Zone, RealGPL - smaller libraries that sometimes have stuff you need.

Amazing deal on for the lifetime over there at the moment!
