Hey Pete,
There could be "something going on at Medium" at the moment, especially considering Mac's/Andy's post yesterday in the Parasite SEO Group.
Personally, as I mentioned yesterday, I actually think the Google CORE Update has already started (due to the SERP volatility being shown in various SEO tools, usually a good sign that "something is happening").
Plus, with Danny Sullivan announcing on Tuesday that "a Google Core Update may happen in a few weeks", well, we now know GOOGLE LIES, so if one of their search advocates says something, expect the opposite π€£π€£π€£π€£
That said, I have had this issue before myself, it could simply be a case of clearing your browser history on your computer (click the three dots on the top-right of your screen--->SETTINGS--->Clear Browser History)
It could be an "Internal Medium issue", so you can't do anything but wait it out..

@PeteDR93 Hey Pete ... Are you hosting your website on WA?

I just imported an article on my regular medium account for miniatures, and importing it wasn't an issue here. But it sometimes gets annoying, because large chunks of texts and subtitles just disappear, so it takes quite some time to check everything and copy paste stuff. Ugh
(not using WA host here)

Could it be.. really?... You serious? hahahaha, wow (no issues importing here and I hardly clear cache/cookies, should do it more often)
@rohanm I don't know what you mean... it's the "BEST HOSTING IN THE WORLD"
I mean, where else could you have EIGHT HOURS of hosting downtime that was SWEPT UNDER THE CARPET and IGNORED by the "powers that be"
And then have 10,000 members proclaim, "Thank god for SiteSupport, Well done, brilliant, this really is the best hosting in the world" (eerm, sorry to burst your bubble luv, but if a hosting provider is still struggling with DDOS attacks and being taken down for EIGHT HOURS in 2024, this is in fact the "WORST hosting in the world", and then you are thanking SiteSupport after your 8 hours of downtime, eerm, it was their fault in the first place... this is the equivalent of me punching you in the face and then me giving you tissues to wipe your blood away, and then you THANKING ME for giving you the tissues and proclaiming that I'm "The Best Human in the World" because I gave you tissues)
π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
p.s. I still don't think Diane and Kyle have had a proper conversation for about 10 months now, since Diane casually mentioned something about the hosting, and Kyle SNAPPED!!!
Always causing trouble, that Old Fluff!! Would never catch me doing anything like that!!! π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£

Oh come on Partha ... I think you're biased and bitter.
Nice easy one to rank a parasite post for ... π

Hey Lizzy ... yep I've noticed this. In fact what I do now is use the import feature and then delete everything but the title, then copy and paste from my published blog post directly into Medium. That way you know you have everything and the canonical link is already added.
Although, thinking about it, it might just be quicker to omit the import step and copy/paste into a new article, then add the canonical!

Ha! Why didn't I think about that haha, thanks!
@rohanm Hey Rohan, yes my site is hosted on WA, could that be the cause?
@rohanm I havenβt tried to add a canonical link manually yet as thought importing would be easier. I might give that a go next as much easier than rewriting the whole article
@rohanm Yep, and that way, you get around the fact that Medium shows the date it was originally published on your site, too, which makes it look current, even if itβs an older post!
@partha Tried clearing browser history and still failed so will try the copy /paste method and add the canonical link manually.
Thanks everyone

@PeteDR93 Hey Pete ... well, I'd probably just say there are likely to be instances where the known poor quality of Wealthy Affiliate hosting could have been the cause of multiple import fails.
Then again, it could have been the Crowdstrike outage, or a million other things π
( Plus: what Partha said ... https://digitalmatrixcafe.com/community/postid/2001327/ )
@ohnoo_not_her I actually like the "condensed" import version. This gives me a chance to say, read the full article at "my site" and add the backlink.
I do "edit" through the post so it is not a complete 100% copy.
This might just be my simplistic thought process.
Could I be wrong? I Dunno...
MrDon
PS - The notable highly loaded affiliate links may also be a stumbling point.

That's actually the clincher for me because I've noticed the posts with past dates seem to take longer to get indexed.
@ohnoo_not_her Yes, I know both problems. I canΒ΄t find out, but some articles canΒ΄t be imported at the same time. Others have no problem with it at all!
But about the words that disappear, it is tricky, Iβm really lucky to see that!
