So, if you are on the Medium platform, you will be aware that you can earn income by writing posts. Essentially, when your articles were read by other Medium members for at least 30 seconds, you would receive payment. Admittedly, not very much, my highest earning month was $80.95, but if you enjoy writing, it's a nice incentive.
However, to me, it has always seemed like a missed opportunity that readers who find your post through Google or other external traffic sources do not count for payment purposes. You can see below that I have one post that has received nearly 5000 visitors through Google, but they earned me nothing!

They are making several changes over the next 6 months, and the first one rewards stories that are shared on social media, attract search traffic, and/or are shared directly with people outside of Medium. The change shifts 5% of the payouts toward stories that get this external traffic and especially to external traffic that converts to members.
Remember, Medium has a very high domain authority, and posts are often ranked highly on Google. You can write about any of your interests; it doesn't have to be your niche.
