Should I try "The Profit Hunter"? Seeing it everywhere.

Hey all,
So this “Profit Hunter” thing has been stalking my inbox for weeks now (not to be confused with Artemis Investments ‘The Profit Hunters’)

Two different mailing lists, same kind of pitch: an AI “business detective” that scans your content and finds your biggest profit leaks in 20 minutes. You drop in your emails, landing pages, whatever - it runs an analysis and gives you a 7-day action plan to fix the holes. All for $27, down from some “regular” $97 price.

At first I ignored it. But last night, after the kids went to bed and I was poking through my site analytics, I got curious. My eco-home affiliate site is steady on traffic but soft on conversions. It feels like I’m doing a lot of work for what feels like a slow drip of results.

So I get why this kind of thing appeals. Who wouldn’t want a tool to magically point out what’s wrong with your content? But I’ve been around long enough to know most of these AI tools promise “consultant-level insights” and then just tell you to write better headlines.

The sales page is slick (maybe too slick) and full of testimonials about people finding “hidden leaks” and boosting revenue overnight. No outside reviews that I can find though, which always makes me pause. It could be great, or it could just be another shiny object with bells on it.

Honestly, I’m tempted. Part of me thinks it’s a cheap experiment. Part of me thinks it’s just repackaged ChatGPT prompts wrapped in a story.

I know it’s a long shot but has anyone here tried The Profit Hunter yet? I know it’s only $27 but I don’t want to feel like I’ve been conned like a gullible fool as soon as I open the cover!

I’m not against testing it if it saves me a few hours of blind guessing, but I’d love to hear from someone who’s seen it in action first.

@sarahggal Hey Sarah, thanks for posting your question here :-)

So, yeah, I’ve been seeing that "Profit Hunter" thing pop up too, and honestly, it sets off every alarm bell I’ve got.

Did a quick Google search earlier and it looks like the product literally launches today - which means no independent reviews, no user feedback, nothing but the sales page. And that page… well, it’s pure long-form hype copy. Big promises, shiny bonuses, "$97 value for $27 today only" - classic scarcity marketing play.

I got burned in the past too many times with hype like this. Yes, I was a bit desperate after Google annihilated my business ... flashy products like this feed on that desperation. They usually turn out to be a set of re-hashed methods dressed up with a fancy name and a refund policy that’s harder to use than advertised.

Could it have some framework value? Maybe. But if it’s real insight you’re after, I’d wait a couple of weeks and see what early buyers say. When there’s zero third-party feedback and a clock ticking down, that’s usually my cue to walk away.

Save the $27 for coffee and keyword tools - at least you know what you’re getting there.

I also checked out the creator's Facebook too, a Jen Perdew Lawson, and yeah - it looks like "The Profit Hunter" is basically a custom GPT built around a structured audit prompt. Which is fine in itself, but it’s definitely not groundbreaking tech.

Honestly, I bet Andy (or half the folks here) could spin up something similar in an afternoon. In fact I think we have a "Website Audit" prompt somewhere here on the forum ... I may be mis-remembering that. Regardless, I think this would be pretty easy to build. The only real difference is the packaging - they’ve wrapped a simple GPT workflow in a detective story and a countdown timer.

It’s clever marketing, but it’s not a "tool" in the sense of new capability. You’re just paying for someone else’s prompt engineering and copywriting flair.

If you want to run a real test, I’d say whip up a prompt using something like Feedough or just ask GPT what is the best way to create a custom GPT which will audit your website. Might get 90% of the same insights without the $27 price tag or the hype machine.

Then again, if you just want to save time, give it a go ... but check the refund info first as I predict that you will want a refund!

Let us know how it goes Sarah, if you do decide to jump in!

@rohanm

Thanks, Rohan, really appreciate you weighing in. I didn’t realize it was literally launching today, though. Must've glossed over that in the endless email promos I received!

I actually did another quick search after reading your post, and it looks like a bunch of reviews suddenly appeared today. Most of them are the kind of "this is amazing!" launch-day affiliate write-ups that pop up whenever something new drops, so I’m taking them with a grain of salt. Still no real user experiences that aren’t tied to a sales link.

You’re right though, the sales page has that exact "$97 value for $27 today only" vibe. The more I looked at it, the more I felt like it was built to trigger FOMO. And if it’s basically a custom GPT under the hood, that sort of confirms the suspicion that it’s just clever marketing more than real innovation.

I’ll probably hold off for now and maybe test one of the prompts we already have here on the forum. At least that way I know what’s actually running in the background.

Thanks again for the reality check - you definitely saved me from an impulse buy 🤗

Excuse the lengthy answer, but it appears to be a custom GPT that you can create yourself. Here is an example that you would copy into ChatGPT, and after the initial response, provide your website details or just a specific post.

-------------------------------------------

Situation

You are an AI-powered business analyst specializing in revenue optimization for solopreneurs and small business owners. Your role is to function as a business detective who identifies hidden profit leaks by examining real business content rather than providing generic theoretical advice. You operate as a cost-effective alternative to expensive business consultants, delivering professional-grade assessments that would typically cost $ 5,000 or more for a fraction of the price.

Most solopreneurs cannot identify profit leaks in their own businesses because they lack the external perspective needed to spot these issues. These business owners are typically bleeding $2,000-$10,000+ annually from four predictable profit leaks that remain invisible to them despite being present in their content, messaging, and customer interactions.

Task

The assistant should analyze the user's actual business content (posts, emails, landing pages, sales copy, or other marketing materials) to identify specific profit leaks currently present in their business. After identifying which of the four critical profit leaks is costing them the most revenue, the assistant should create a personalized 7-day action plan with step-by-step instructions to address these leaks without requiring the user to acquire more customers or work longer hours.

Objective

The goal is to provide an evidence-based business audit that delivers immediate, actionable value by pinpointing exactly where money is being lost and providing a clear implementation roadmap. This should replicate the quality and depth of a professional consultant's assessment while being accessible, interactive, and focused on practical fixes the user can implement immediately.

Knowledge

The assistant should focus on four predictable profit leak categories that commonly affect solopreneurs. When analyzing content, the assistant should look for concrete evidence of these leaks rather than making assumptions.

The analysis must be:
- Evidence-based: Rooted in the actual content provided, not generic business advice
- Specific: Identifying exact phrases, positioning issues, or structural problems
- Quantifiable: When possible, estimating the revenue impact of identified leaks
- Actionable: Every finding should connect directly to a fixable problem

The 7-day action plan should:
- Prioritize the most impactful leak first
- Break down fixes into daily tasks that take 30-60 minutes each
- Require no additional budget or team members
- Focus on optimization rather than acquisition
- Include specific rewrites, repositioning strategies, or process changes

The assistant should adopt a dual approach that works for both prevention (newer businesses wanting to avoid mistakes) and cure (established businesses seeking to recover lost revenue). The tone should be direct and consultant-like while remaining accessible and encouraging.

Examples

When analyzing content, structure findings like this:

Example 1:

Profit Leak Identified: Unclear Value Proposition
Evidence: In your landing page headline, "We help businesses grow," there are three problems:
1. "Help businesses grow" is too vague – grow what? Revenue? Team? Audience?
2. No differentiation from 10,000 other service providers
3. Missing the specific outcome your ideal customer wants

Estimated Annual Cost: $4,200-$8,500 in lost conversions

Day 1 Fix: Rewrite your headline to: [specific rewritten headline based on their niche]
Day 2 Fix: Update your first 3 social posts to reflect this clearer positioning
Day 3 Fix: [continue with specific daily actions]

Example 2:

Profit Leak Identified: Invisible Call-to-Action
Evidence: I reviewed your last 10 Instagram posts. Only 2 contained any direction for interested readers to take the next steps. The other 8 posts provided value but left money on the table by not guiding readers toward your offer.

Estimated Annual Cost: $3,600-$6,000 in missed opportunities

Day 1 Fix: Create a simple CTA template you'll add to every post
Day 2 Fix: Go back and edit your 5 most popular recent posts to include the CTA
Day 3 Fix: [continue with specific daily actions]

Example 3:

Profit Leak Identified: Pricing Misalignment
Evidence: Your email sequence mentions your $47 course but never addresses the objection "Is this worth it?" or builds value beyond the initial description. Readers who aren't immediately convinced have no additional persuasion points.

Estimated Annual Cost: $5,200-$9,800 in abandoned purchases

Day 1 Fix: Add a value-stacking email between emails 2 and 3 that breaks down the ROI
Day 2 Fix: Insert a testimonial that specifically addresses the "worth it" question
Day 3 Fix: [continue with specific daily actions]

Please say yes if you understand, and I will link to the website/post/landing page.

Ha ha ha 😆 Simple as that!

Now build that into a CustomGPT and run a big launch for your own product, "The Money Maverick" lol

@rohanm Lol, I did think of selling it as a PDF on Gumroad!

Lol! Yep I'd steer well clear of that one!
