As some know, I'm currently looking into a way to offer hosting packages, since a few members here have requested it.
While this in and of itself is no small chore (do you know how many different reseller hosting options there are out there? And how many of them actually suck at hosting? lol), I am curious to know how many people would be potentially interested in switching to different hosting provider (one that doesn't glitch or break down on you all the time)?
More specifically, how many websites would you be looking to host, and what monthly or annual price range would you consider reasonable for those sites?
Feel free to post your comments below or DM me them, so I can get a general idea of how many are interested and how many sites we're looking to host collectively.
I have been looking at moving my stuff off WA, but as a not-very-technical person, it terrifies me, so this would be ideal for me. It would need to be less than WA, as I have the grandfathered plan there. I currently have 10 sites that I would want to move and the others would be dropped. Out of those one is a heavier site, which sell pre-made book covers.
I hosted my three sites on WPX.net. I think you can have 5 sites for the basic version of 25 bucks per month. I'm very happy with them and the transfer, no more downtimes, faster and support is great and fast! I'm sometimes thinking: my questions to them are probably quite basic and silly, but they always answer in a polite and professional way hahaha! ( I had them even create a free subdomain and it all went smoothly)
I am interested in transferring 3 WA sites initially. I have another website hosted elsewhere which I pay £10/month hosting, email, domain etc which I am very happy with in comparison.
Hi! My WA subscription runs out in October and I will definitely be moving away from WA so I would be interested. I would just move 2 sites. Thanks for asking.
@rudy Good questions - Privacy settings is usually specific with your domain, (You know this, but I'm just clarifying this for others) - your domain (i.e. your URL, like example.com) and your hosting (i.e. where your actual sites files are 'hosted') are two separate things. While this thread is talking about specifically hosting, if you don't want to keep your domains with WA, then we'll show you/help you move them over else-where. So yes, Privacy would be included where-ever we helped move your domains to.
For the actual hosting, SSL is planned to be included, email accounts and back ups up to 30-days as well. I'm also planning on helping give each person I'm hosted more access to their actual hosting (i.e. like the ability to add your own TXT/CNAME records and being able to add files, etc, to your site without needing to use FTP), but we're still testing things out to see how plausible that is.
I outlined what I could do in the services posts found here. If you have less than 3 and they're on the smaller size, I can probably host them, but you would need to DM me so I could double check and make sure.
