At the rate we’re growing, I’m hoping we’ll get to ~300 by the end of this month. And I had told my team that I was hoping to initally try for ‘30-60’ email sign ups this month, haha.
Anyways, it doesn’t matter where you start, as long as you can continually build upon what you are creating, you can go far.
The sky is the limit, especially for this website!
Wooop! The money is in the list. Once you have built some trust, email marketing out-performs every other type of traffic generation method by some margin!
I can share that I only started my email list a few months ago, and it is by far the blogging mistake I regret the most! I was so comfortable relying on Google traffic for so long that I kept putting this off. Starting an email list at the beginning of your journey can give you the best ROI on your time!
That’s excellent advice and should be front and centre of every internet marketing course out there. Build … your … list!
Way back in the day (like 20 years ago … lol) I built a ‘work from home’ website based around data entry jobs. I built a list of around 20k subscribers relatively quickly. It wasn’t the most responsive list but there was engagement and I even made a few affiliate sales.
But it was guaranteed traffic to my website whenever I published new content and sent an email to the list. Much higher engagement too because of the inherent higher trust. Google loves engagement
Even though the site’s revenue was minimal, I sold it for around $15k … which in hindsight, was a very bad move! Imagine how big that list might be today!
Amazing, thanks for sharing! I keep reminding myself that even though I thought of email marketing as an ‘old method’, it still works! And it is absolutely worth the time. I am subscribed to a few content creators’ email lists myself and purchasing courses I am interested in, so I’m sure there are others who do the same!
Thanks for the link to Groundhogg - disappointing that you can’t pay monthly while you are trying it out. Has to be an annual payment. I am currently looking into Beehiiv, which is free for up to 2500 subscribers.
Things might have changed as it was quite a while ago when I tried out Groundhogg but I just downloaded the plugin from within WP and the free version did everything I needed it to do. Admittedly, I was using it more as a follow up tool rather than a list management tool.
Kit has a 10K newsletter plan that is free. You just need to ask them to switch you to it. If I’m not yet read to pay for Kit with this specific account, I may jump on it. We’ve been too busy with new additions to the household that we haven’t even sent any weekly broadcasts to this list yet (other than the intro emails).
Awesome stuff Andy. That’s some really great numbers.
I’d definitely recommend engaging early and building that trust so as the list doesn’t go cold … I know you’ve got one or two other things on your mind right now though … lol
Let’s just say 2026 started off very sad for me. My best friend passed away on the 28 of february. We just had her funeral this past saturday on march 14th. Its been hard these last near three weeks for me.
So sorry to hear this sad news. It’s so hard losing our nearest and dearest. My teenage daughter lost a very dear school friend recently and it’s been really tough on her. She has still not really processed it. We can only say to her that it will feel less painful with time.
Yea, she. Was supposed to of been at my graduation from college for last year and this year. She caught a brain bleed or aneurysm, in march of last year, and went into a vegetative state.
She didn’t get the chance to make it to either. So, I’m really just pushing myself and getting grief counseling.
I lost two cousins prior to her early February of this year and My uncle Passed away last year as well and we bury him February 14, 2025. Prior to him we bury the last of my grand parents, my grandmother in 2024.
She passed a week behind my birthday on Jan. 21, 2024 on a Sunday. My bday was on the 14 th also on a Sunday. It’s been tough, Rohan.
These last three years have been grievous. This year I am teaching myself how to deal with grief, how to set up emergency funds, and how to build a business.
From each person I have buried or funeral I went to, I learned something from their life and applied it to mine. For the most part I have learned that health issues can happen at any age, and to have emergency funds set aside while being pro-active about my health.
Sorry for the long response. But I am taking everything one day at a time.
